Ankara( The COW News Digital) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has strongly condemned Israel’s recent airstrikes in Syria, calling the actions aggressive and destabilizing for the entire region. In a significant diplomatic move, Erdoğan expressed solidarity with Syria and reiterated Turkey’s opposition to any attempts at dividing the war-torn country.
During a telephone conversation with Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shara, Erdoğan denounced the Israeli attacks and welcomed the ceasefire agreement reached in the southern Syrian city of Suwayda, where intense tribal clashes have claimed over 500 lives in recent days.
“The Republic of Turkey did not allow Syria to be divided in the past and will never allow it in the future,” President Erdoğan stated. “Israel is a terrorist state that uses any excuse to expand its aggression. In this case, it’s exploiting the Druze tribes’ internal conflicts to justify its military operations.”
Erdoğan emphasized that Israeli hostility has become one of the greatest threats to regional peace and stability. He warned neighboring countries and international stakeholders against trusting Israel’s intentions, adding that “those who rely on Israel will eventually realize they are on the wrong side of history.”
The Turkish leader’s comments come just hours before the United Nations Security Council convenes for an emergency session to address the escalating conflict in Syria, particularly in the Suwayda region. Tribal violence and foreign interventions have reignited tensions in areas previously under fragile ceasefire arrangements.
Turkey’s firm stance signals a broader regional alignment as Ankara seeks to play a more active role in Middle Eastern diplomacy. Erdoğan also voiced support for Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, asserting that foreign interference—particularly from Israel—will only deepen the humanitarian crisis.
The Turkish government has urged the international community to condemn Israel’s military actions and to support efforts aimed at stabilizing Syria through dialogue and diplomacy.
As calls for accountability grow louder, Erdoğan’s statement adds to mounting pressure on Israel amid global scrutiny over its military operations across the region.
