WASHINGTON( The COW News Digital)Concerns about President Donald Trump’s health surfaced on Thursday after the White House confirmed that he is suffering from Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI)—a circulatory condition—following signs of swelling in his legs and bruising on his hand.
In a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt stated that the 79-year-old president recently experienced minor swelling in both legs. Upon noticing the symptoms, the White House medical team conducted a thorough evaluation, including Doppler ultrasounds on both legs, which revealed reduced blood flow.
“President Trump has been diagnosed with Chronic Venous Insufficiency, a common yet uncomfortable condition that typically affects people over the age of 70,” Leavitt said. “It is a manageable condition with effective treatment, and the President remains in excellent overall health.”
Chronic Venous Insufficiency occurs when the veins in the legs are unable to efficiently return blood to the heart, often leading to swelling, discomfort, and visible skin changes. According to medical experts, the condition is not life-threatening if properly managed.
Leavitt reassured the public that no signs of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) or arterial blockages were found during the tests. An echocardiogram also confirmed that President Trump’s heart function and structure were normal, alleviating concerns about any cardiac complications.
Regarding the visible bruising on the President’s hand, the spokesperson clarified that it resulted from repeated handshakes and daily use of aspirin, which can cause minor soft tissue irritation in some individuals.
A detailed medical memo issued by the White House physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella, supported the findings. The memo also referenced the President’s annual physical examination conducted in April, which indicated robust health at the time.
Despite his age and the demands of the presidency, Trump’s medical team emphasized that he remains fit to continue performing his duties without restrictions. The administration, however, stated that regular monitoring and conservative treatment would be part of his health management moving forward.
The news has drawn mixed reactions from political observers, with some calling for more transparency on presidential health, while others praised the White House for promptly addressing the issue.
As the 2026 election season looms, Trump’s health is likely to remain under public scrutiny—though for now, officials insist there is no cause for alarm.
