Islamabad( The COW News Digital )Mashal Khan, a prominent figure associated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former spokesperson for Bushra Bibi, has officially secured her Senate nomination, following days of legal uncertainty and political intrigue.
Khan’s candidacy faced a temporary roadblock when her proposers and seconders reportedly withdrew their support just before the Election Commission’s scrutiny process. However, in a surprising turn of events, both individuals reappeared at the commission’s office the next morning and formally reaffirmed their backing, allowing her nomination papers to be approved.
Speaking exclusively to Express News after her nomination was accepted, Mashal Khan revealed that she has had no contact with either Bushra Bibi or former Prime Minister Imran Khan for the past four to five months. “I tried to meet him through every legal avenue while he was in jail, but my efforts failed,” she said.
Despite the lack of communication, Khan said she was both honored and surprised when her name was announced directly from Adiala Jail by Imran Khan himself. “Receiving the Senate ticket under such circumstances is the biggest recognition of my loyalty and efforts,” she added. She vowed to represent PTI and her incarcerated leader with full conviction in the Senate, should she be elected.
“I will raise my voice without fear about Imran Khan’s arrest, the injustices faced by PTI, and the deteriorating state of affairs in the country,” Khan said with resolve.
Clarifying her political alignment, she emphasized: “Let me be clear once again—I am part of the Imran Khan group. I have stood with them, I continue to stand with them, and I will remain by their side as long as they are loyal to our leader.”
Mashal Khan’s reappearance on the political scene and her nomination for the Senate has drawn attention across the political spectrum, particularly as PTI continues to struggle under state pressure and mass defections.
Her candidacy is viewed by political analysts as a strategic move by Imran Khan’s faction to maintain its ideological stronghold within the upper house, especially at a time when internal rifts and external pressures are challenging the party’s unity.
As the Senate elections approach, all eyes will be on Mashal Khan’s campaign, which now symbolizes resilience and continued loyalty to PTI’s embattled leadership.
