China a Pillar of Regional Stability: Gen. Sahir Shamshad

ISLAMABAD ( The COW News Digital) Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, has lauded China as a guarantor of peace and stability in the region. He made the remarks while attending the 98th anniversary ceremony of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) as the chief guest.

The event, held to commemorate the founding of the PLA, was attended by senior civil and military officials, members of the media, business leaders, and representatives of civil society. The wide participation was seen as a testament to the broad-based support for Pak-China friendship.

According to Pakistan’s military media wing, ISPR, General Sahir extended heartfelt congratulations to the people of China, its military leadership, and the officers and soldiers of the PLA. He praised the vision of President Xi Jinping and acknowledged the PLA’s vital role in China’s remarkable progress and modernization.

In his speech, General Sahir emphasized the historical strength and endurance of the Pakistan-China relationship. He reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to further deepen and expand cooperation across all sectors.

“China is not just a strategic partner but a pillar of stability in a complex regional security landscape,” he stated, highlighting the importance of bilateral defense cooperation and mutual support in international forums.

He also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the safety of Chinese nationals working on various projects across the country, including those under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He stressed that the security and success of CPEC are national priorities for Pakistan.

General Sahir underlined the need for greater collaboration in defense, economic growth, and regional connectivity, calling for continued efforts to enhance mutual trust and strategic synergy.

The PLA’s 98th anniversary comes at a time when global geopolitical tensions continue to shift, and Pakistan and China’s partnership is increasingly seen as vital to maintaining balance in South Asia and beyond.

Observers noted that the warm sentiments exchanged during the ceremony further solidified the “iron brotherhood” between Islamabad and Beijing.
