Rawalpindi( The COW News Digital)Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir paid glowing tribute to Major Syed Moeez Abbas Shah, who embraced martyrdom during an anti-terrorism operation in South Waziristan. The operation targeted insurgents affiliated with the Indian-sponsored terrorist group “Fitna Al-Khawarij,” according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The funeral prayer for the 37-year-old officer was held at Chaklala Garrison in Rawalpindi and was attended by Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Federal Interior Minister, senior military and civil officials, fellow officers, and soldiers. Major Abbas hailed from Chakwal district and was laid to rest in his native village with full military honors.
Speaking at the solemn occasion, Field Marshal Munir stated, “We can never fully repay the debt we owe to our martyrs. Their blood is the foundation of our national strength.” He further praised Major Abbas for fighting bravely against the enemy and sacrificing his life with courage and patriotism.
ISPR highlighted that Major Abbas’s martyrdom exemplifies the highest traditions of valor, sacrifice, and loyalty to the nation. His commitment in the face of overwhelming danger is a symbol of the steadfast resolve of the Pakistan Army to eliminate terrorism in all forms.

Field Marshal Munir emphasized that the entire nation mourns the loss of this brave son yet takes immense pride in his courage and commitment. “The sacrifices of our martyrs will never be forgotten. They are our pride and the reason our homeland stands strong today,” he added.
This operation is part of an intensified effort by the Pakistan Army to counter hostile threats along the western border, particularly those fueled by foreign interference. The military leadership has reiterated its resolve to cleanse the region of terrorism and maintain national sovereignty at all costs.
