TEL AVIV: (The COW News Digital ) –Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has officially confirmed the ceasefire proposal put forward by US President Donald Trump, agreeing to a halt in hostilities with Iran.

The Israeli prime minister’s office has issued a statement on Trump’s ceasefire deal, saying Netanyahu has accepted it and will be delivering a statement later today.

According to Reuters, Netanyahu endorsed Trump’s announcement of a ceasefire and warned that any violation of the agreement would be met with a strong response.

The Israeli PM stated that the ceasefire was reached through American mediation and emphasized that Israel is taking the development seriously but will not compromise on its national security.

He further said that while Israel remains prepared to defend itself, it will give priority to a peaceful resolution.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said a ceasefire between Israel and Iran was now in place and asked both countries not to violate it, only hours after Iran launched waves of missiles, which Israel’s ambulance service said killed four people.

“THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!” Trump said in a Truth Social post.

When Trump announced on Monday what he called a complete ceasefire to end a 12-day war, he appeared to suggest that Israel and Iran would have time to complete missions that were underway, at which point the ceasefire would begin in a staged process.
