TEHRAN (TheCOWNews Digital) Iran’s military has issued a stern warning to both Israel and the United States following Israeli airstrikes on Iranian territory, vowing severe retaliation and labeling the attack a “grave mistake.” The statement comes amid rising regional tensions after Israel launched air raids on nuclear and military targets deep within Iran, resulting in high-profile casualties and civilian deaths.
Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesperson for Iran’s armed forces, declared in a televised statement, “The Zionist regime and its backers, particularly the United States, will have to pay a heavy price. This blatant aggression will not go unanswered.”
He added, “The enemy made a strategic blunder by attacking the Islamic Republic of Iran. Now, they must wait for the response of the Iranian nation and its armed forces.”
The Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee also echoed this sentiment. Member Ebrahim Rezai stated, “Tel Aviv’s reckless actions will face a comprehensive and resolute response from Iran. Our retaliation will serve as a deterrent for future aggression.”
The airstrikes, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, targeted multiple sites in Tehran and the provinces of Isfahan and Yazd. Iranian state media confirmed that residential areas in the northern, central, and western districts of the capital were hit. Among the casualties were children and civilians, intensifying public outrage.
Most notably, the head of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), General Hossein Salami, was reportedly killed in one of the strikes, along with a senior nuclear scientist. Iran has not yet officially confirmed Salami’s death, but local media outlets and sources within the IRGC have issued tributes.
As a security measure, Iran has suspended all flights at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport and placed its air defense systems on full alert. A high-level security meeting is underway in Tehran, as Iran’s leadership prepares for a military and diplomatic response.
Iranian military sources insist that the Israeli attack could not have been carried out without U.S. intelligence and logistical support, despite official American denials of involvement. “This crime was not committed by Israel alone. The U.S. is complicit and must be held accountable,” said General Shekarchi.
In response to the escalating threat, Israel remains on high alert. Bomb shelters across the country have been opened, and citizens have been advised to stay close to secure locations. The Israeli government has also placed its defense forces on full operational readiness amid fears of imminent Iranian ballistic missile retaliation.
The attacks came just two days ahead of scheduled indirect U.S.-Iran talks aimed at reducing tensions in the region. Iranian officials have accused Israel of attempting to sabotage diplomatic efforts through military provocation.
Global powers, including Russia, China, and several European nations, have urged restraint from both sides. However, with emotions running high in Tehran and military preparations accelerating on both fronts, the region appears to be teetering on the edge of a broader conflict.
