At least 58 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed in Israeli airstrikes near an aid distribution center in Rafah, as bombardment intensified across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday.

According to Al Jazeera, the majority of those killed were civilians waiting in line for food. Hospitals across Gaza received dozens of bodies, with Khan Younis’s Nasser Hospital reporting 35 dead — 27 of them gunned down near the aid center. Other fatalities were reported at Al-Shifa, Al-Aqsa Martyrs, and Al-Arabi Al-Ahly hospitals.

Israeli drone strikes also targeted the Jura neighborhood, killing at least four people, while three more were killed in Deir al-Balah.

Jeremy Laurence, spokesperson for the UN Human Rights Office, condemned the attacks, calling them “serious violations of international law,” and warned that “deliberately starving civilians may constitute a war crime.”

Georgia Tacey, Gaza Response Director for Save the Children, said their warehouses were empty and aid trucks stuck at the border. “We’re trying to save lives — I haven’t seen anything like this in 20 years. The system seems deliberately broken.”

She added, “Gaza’s children will never forget what they’ve witnessed.”
