Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a national initiative to build water storage infrastructure in response to India’s threats, stating that under the Indus Waters Treaty, every drop of water belongs to Pakistan.
Speaking at a tribal jirga in Peshawar, the Prime Minister emphasized unity among provinces to protect Pakistan’s water rights. He urged tribal elders and KP leadership—including the Governor, Chief Minister, and Corps Commander—to propose actionable steps for national water security.
Sharif praised the sacrifices of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in Pakistan’s formation and the war against terrorism. He pledged continued federal support for KP, especially in counterterrorism efforts, and announced the formation of a committee to review KP’s share in the NFC Award.
The PM also referenced Pakistan’s military response to Indian aggression, calling it a historic lesson for India, and vowed continued national resilience both militarily and economically.
