Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not received an official invitation to the upcoming G7 Leaders’ Summit, scheduled to be held in Canada from June 15 to 17, marking a possible first absence from the forum in six years.

The summit, hosted by Canada, will bring together the heads of the world’s major economies. According to Indian media reports citing government sources, even if an invitation is extended, Modi is unlikely to attend due to India’s concerns over Canada’s handling of the Khalistan issue.

Tensions between the two nations have escalated in recent months, particularly after diplomatic rows surrounding Sikh separatist activities in Canada. The Canadian government and G7 spokespersons have yet to confirm or deny Modi’s inclusion in the summit.

Analysts suggest that the absence could further strain India–Canada relations, already affected by deepening disagreements over extremism and mutual diplomatic distrust.
