Saudi Arabia and the U.S. Sign $142 Billion Defense Agreements

Saudi Arabia and the United States have signed defense agreements worth $142 billion, marking a major step in the enhancement of Saudi Arabia’s military capabilities with the help of advanced weaponry and services from American defense companies.

According to a statement from the White House, during U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia, the host country confirmed an investment commitment of $600 billion in various sectors, including energy, defense, technology, global infrastructure, and minerals.

The statement outlined that the defense agreements will focus on providing Saudi Arabia with cutting-edge military equipment and services from dozens of U.S. defense companies. Under the agreements, Saudi Arabia will receive defense exports in five key sectors, which include modernization of the air force, space capabilities, missile defense, maritime and coastal security, border security, and improvements in the army’s capabilities and information technology systems.

Furthermore, the White House mentioned that the deal also includes training, cooperation, and support for Saudi military academies and medical services to enhance the capabilities of the Saudi Armed Forces.

This agreement is seen as a significant demonstration of Saudi Arabia’s substantial investment in defense and regional security, based on U.S. systems and training.

The statement concluded that this deal, along with other agreements in different sectors, surpasses $600 billion, making it the largest commercial package in the history of trade relations between the two nations.
