Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sheikh Waqas Akram expressed that his party stands with the Pakistani nation, not with any government. Speaking on a talk show “Statecraft” aired on Express News, he emphasized that PTI is committed to the nation’s unity and progress, regardless of political affiliations or disagreements with the current government.
He stated, “We are with the people of Pakistan, not with any government we do not support. The nation does not need a government; it needs unity.”
Defense analyst and retired Air Marshal Shahid Akhtar also weighed in on the ongoing developments, noting that he was not surprised by the recent military advancements. He mentioned that he had anticipated the level of training taking place in Pakistan’s defense forces. However, he commended the recent developments in military strategies, saying, “In the last two to three years, the progress and control over the spectrum have been highly promising. It’s a well-integrated strategy to use every available asset effectively, and this still managed to surprise me.”
Responding to a question about Pakistan’s success in downing an Indian Rafale fighter jet, Shahid Akhtar acknowledged that while the Indian government had not confirmed the incident, Pakistan’s disclosure of the event was beneficial. He added, “Their government’s policy was not to acknowledge it, so their response was the best they could manage under the circumstances.”
