Former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik has publicly welcomed the ceasefire between Pakistan and India, marking the end of four days of escalating tensions along the border. His statement comes shortly after his former wife, Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, also expressed support for the truce.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Malik praised the bravery of the Pakistan Armed Forces, stating, “The courage and heroism shown by our forces cannot be fully expressed in words. Their unwavering commitment to peace and stability is a beacon for the world.”
He concluded his post with a patriotic salute, writing, “Pakistan Zindabad. We are proud of you, Pakistan Army.”
Sania Mirza, who hails from India and was previously married to Malik, had earlier shared a message welcoming the ceasefire, emphasizing the need for peace in the region.
The ceasefire announcement follows the Pakistani military’s decisive response under Operation Bunyan-e-Marsous, which reportedly compelled India to seek a de-escalation. Both nations have now agreed to halt hostilities after several days of heightened military activity.
Public figures across the subcontinent have increasingly used their platforms to call for peace, with Malik and Mirza’s voices standing out due to their cross-border personal history and significant fan followings in both countries.
