The widow of the great-grandson of Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar, Sultana Begum, has sought the Indian Supreme Court’s intervention to claim ownership of the Red Fort in Delhi.

The Supreme Court questioned the validity of her claim, stating that granting possession of the Red Fort could potentially lead to demands for other historical forts, such as the ones in Agra and Fatehpur Sikri.

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Sanjiv Khanna, rejected Sultana Begum’s claim and dismissed her request for the possession of the iconic fort.
