In a bold and controversial statement, retired Major General Fazlur Rahman of the Bangladesh Army has suggested that Bangladesh should launch an attack on India if New Delhi initiates military action against Pakistan.

Taking to social media, the former military official proposed that in the event of an Indian assault on Pakistan—particularly in light of the heightened tensions following the Pahalgam incident—Bangladesh should retaliate by targeting India’s northeastern states.

“If India attacks Pakistan, Bangladesh should strike India’s seven northeastern states and take control of them,” Major General (Retd.) Fazlur Rahman stated.

His remarks have stirred significant attention across regional platforms, coming at a time when South Asia is witnessing increasing geopolitical friction. The retired general’s call for aggressive military action marks a rare and extreme viewpoint from a former high-ranking Bangladeshi officer.
