Pakistan’s world champion cueist Mohammad Asif secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Asian Snooker Championship after a thrilling victory over Korea’s Young-jin Park.

Asif edged past his opponent 4-3 in a hard-fought contest to keep his title hopes alive in the tournament.

In another impressive performance, Pakistan’s second cueist, Shahid Aftab, defeated China’s Zhuo Jinhao 1-4 in the pre-quarter-finals of the championship, which is currently underway in Doha, Qatar.

However, former Asian champion Mohammad Sajjad was unable to progress further, as he suffered a 1-4 defeat at the hands of Iran’s Amir Sarkosh, marking his exit from the tournament.

Meanwhile, in the Asian Under-21 Snooker Championship, Pakistan’s young cueists Hamza Ilyas and Ahsan Ramzan started their campaign on a high note, securing victories in their opening-round matches.

The competition continues to see strong performances from Pakistani players as they aim for further success on the international stage.
