Calls Recent Political Maneuver “Missed Call” and Accuses PTI Leaders of Corruption
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has responded to recent political developments, particularly criticizing the calls for civil disobedience and claims about financial challenges. During a press conference in Shahdara, Bukhari stated, “The final call made by the ‘Adiala Jail conspiracy’ turned out to be a missed call.”
Bukhari further commented that attempts to damage Pakistan through a civil disobedience movement, including writing letters to the IMF, were unsuccessful. Despite calls not to send remittances, the country saw an increase in remittances, with $3.1 billion coming in from overseas.
Addressing the political situation, she accused certain figures of plotting to damage national institutions. She referred to former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s regime as one obsessed with “magic spells and amulets,” while Pakistan continued to make progress despite protests and turmoil. “While they were advocating for no NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance), now they are begging for it,” she said, referring to Imran Khan’s changing stance.
Bukhari also took aim at PTI leaders, particularly Ali Amin Gandapur, accusing him and his cabinet of corruption. She claimed that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), millions of rupees were collected under the guise of mosque donations before November 26, 2022, and called out the inefficiency of the provincial government. She also noted the apparent discrepancy between the hardships faced by the public and the lavish lifestyle of PTI leaders’ families abroad.
Furthermore, Bukhari announced several government initiatives aimed at uplifting the people of Punjab, including a scholarship program for 30,000 children, which had been criticized by opposition parties. She also highlighted the launch of a livestock card program in Pakpattan by Maryam Nawaz, which would enable people to purchase livestock and earn a livelihood. This initiative is part of an 11 billion rupees project that aims to benefit 80,000 people.
In closing, Bukhari reiterated the government’s commitment to improving the lives of Pakistanis, even in the face of opposition efforts to disrupt the nation’s progress.
