Two-Day Global Conference on “Girls’ Education in Muslim Societies: Challenges and Opportunities” Opens

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has stressed that ensuring access to education for girls in poor countries is a critical challenge of our time. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the two-day global conference on “Girls’ Education in Muslim Societies: Challenges and Opportunities” in Islamabad, he highlighted the need for large-scale efforts in the Muslim world to address this issue.

The Prime Minister emphasized that education should be accessible in every society and that the challenges faced in the education sector must be overcome. He underscored the importance of making education accessible to girls in impoverished nations.

Shahbaz Sharif also pointed out that Islam encourages all members of society, including women, to seek knowledge. He expressed pride in hosting the conference, which features the participation of Malala Yousafzai, calling her a symbol of courage and determination.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to Benazir Bhutto, who became the first female Prime Minister of a Muslim-majority country, and celebrated the achievements of women in Pakistan, such as Maryam Nawaz, who became the first female Chief Minister, and Arfa Karim, who made a name in the field of IT.

The conference, which includes ministers and representatives from 47 countries and various organizations, will conclude with the signing of the “Islamabad Declaration” on the final day.
