Colombo: In the ongoing Saarc Snooker Championship, world champion Mohammad Asif secured a place in the final by defeating compatriot Mohammad Naseem Akhtar in a hard-fought match.

In the first semi-final held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Mohammad Asif triumphed over former world junior champion Mohammad Naseem Akhtar with a 5-3 victory, after a tough battle, setting his sights on the title.

Earlier, Mohammad Naseem Akhtar had made it to the semi-finals by defeating Indian player Kamal Chawla 4-2.

In the final, Mohammad Asif will face Sri Lanka’s Taha Irshad on Friday, who triumphed over Nepal’s Ankit Man in the second semi-final with a 5-3 scoreline after a challenging match.
