Pakistan cricket team’s opening batsman Fakhar Zaman has issued an important statement ahead of the Champions Trophy, revealing that he had been unfit and ill after the T20 World Cup, which prevented him from being part of the team. However, his focus is now entirely on the upcoming Champions Trophy.
In an exclusive interview with a private TV channel, the national hero stated, “I was unwell after the T20 World Cup and wasn’t fit, which is why I couldn’t be part of the team. But now, I am fully fit and ready to be part of Pakistan’s next international event.”
He explained his decision to skip tours to Australia and South Africa, saying, “I chose not to go on the tours because I needed to get completely fit for the Champions Trophy.”
Fakhar further shared that preparations for the Champions Trophy have always been a priority for him. “This tournament marked the incredible start of my career, and I am really excited for the upcoming event,” he added.
Commenting on young cricketer Saeem Ayub, Fakhar expressed his hope for Ayub’s swift recovery, stating, “I hope and pray that Saeem Ayub gets fully fit soon. He’s a tremendous cricketer, and if he plays for the next four to five years, he could become one of the top players in the world.”
Regarding his own role in the team, Fakhar said, “My preference is always to open the batting, but the team’s needs come first. I am ready to bat wherever the team requires me, as the team’s success is always my priority.”
