90,000 Hajj pilgrims to travel under government scheme

Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Mohammad Yousuf, announced on Sunday that 90,000 pilgrims will travel to Saudi Arabia under the government’s Hajj scheme for the 2025 season.

Speaking at a press conference at the Haji Camp in Lahore, Yousuf revealed that the Hajj flights would begin on April 29, and assured the public that comprehensive arrangements were being made for the smooth facilitation of the pilgrims.

“The first phase of Hajj training was completed before Ramadan, and the second phase will be held from May 8 at Punjab University,” Yousuf said, noting that pilgrims from across the country would be trained to ensure they are fully prepared for their spiritual journey.

The minister emphasized that his visit to Lahore was to review the Hajj arrangements, especially as a large number of pilgrims would be departing from the city.

“Pilgrims are the guests of Allah, and we want to make sure that everything is in place to serve Allah’s guests to the best of our ability,” he said.

Yousuf also mentioned that the Ministry of Religious Affairs had issued additional instructions regarding pilgrims’ vaccinations, as well as other essential preparations for their journey.

Furthermore, the minister highlighted that the government aimed to provide unparalleled services to the pilgrims over the next two months. He shared that he had held detailed discussions with Saudi authorities about medical services, transportation, and accommodation arrangements for the Hajj.

Yousuf also briefed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on these arrangements to ensure a smooth and successful Hajj season.
