RAWALPINDI:The 53rd martyrdom anniversary of Sowar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed, Pakistan’s first recipient of the Nishan-e-Haider, is being observed today with great reverence. He is remembered for his unparalleled bravery, courage, and sacrifice during the 1971 war.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, the chiefs of all three armed forces, and the Pakistan Army paid glowing tributes to the heroic sacrifice of Sowar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed.

ISPR highlighted that during the 1971 war, Sowar Muhammad Hussain played a pivotal role in the Zafarwal-Shakargarh sector, where he demonstrated extraordinary courage by destroying 16 enemy tanks. He embraced martyrdom while performing his duties on the front lines, struck by enemy machine gun fire.

Military leadership remarked that the sacrifice of Sowar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed serves as a beacon of inspiration for the nation and is a testament to the unwavering resolve of Pakistan’s armed forces in defending the homeland.

The ISPR further stated that the nation will always honor the sacrifices of these brave sons who laid down their lives for the country’s survival and dignity. Sowar Muhammad Hussain’s bravery and loyalty will forever be etched in golden letters in Pakistan’s history, serving as a source of pride for both the armed forces and the nation.
