ISLAMABAD( The COW News Digital)Pakistan’s security forces have successfully foiled a major infiltration attempt by an India-backed terrorist group, killing at least 30 militants near the Afghan border, the military’s media wing said in a statement on Thursday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the attempted breach occurred on the nights of July 1–2 and July 2–3 in the Hassan Khel area of North Waziristan, near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The operation targeted the banned group “Fitna Al-Khawarij”, which ISPR stated was fully supported and sponsored by Indian intelligence.
“Pakistan Army troops, with precise intelligence and swift response, engaged the infiltrators in a fierce exchange of fire, neutralizing all 30 terrorists attempting to cross into Pakistani territory,” the ISPR confirmed.
Security forces also recovered a substantial cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosive materials from the slain militants, averting what could have been a catastrophic terror attack within the country. Images released showed military personnel inspecting large quantities of arms seized during the operation.
The military emphasized that the action not only safeguarded national security but also sent a clear message to hostile elements operating across the border. “Pakistan’s armed forces remain resolute in defending the nation and eradicating India-sponsored terrorism,” said the ISPR.
Pakistan has once again urged the interim Afghan government to ensure that its soil is not used as a launchpad for cross-border terrorism, particularly by foreign-sponsored proxy networks. The ISPR reiterated Pakistan’s expectation that Afghanistan act decisively against militants using its territory for launching attacks on Pakistani soil.
The incident comes amid escalating concerns over renewed cross-border militant activity following the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021. Despite repeated diplomatic efforts, Pakistan claims certain factions continue to enjoy safe havens across the border, facilitated by rival intelligence services.
The military further vowed that any attempt to undermine Pakistan’s sovereignty or peace would be met with full force. “We are fully prepared to uproot every trace of externally supported terrorism,” the ISPR concluded.
This is one of the largest counter-infiltration operations reported this year, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining its border integrity amid rising regional instability.
